Hey My Lovely Readers!! Hope you all are doing well!
We all know Dandruff is a problem which is difficult to deal with. Almost half of the population is suffering from it. Not only it also makes you feel shabby but also harm your confidence. Isn’t it? It’s really embarrassing when white flakes shed on your clothes and everyone notices it. :/ ewww But don’t worry, treating dandruff is not as difficult as you think. You can always buy expensive products but as far as my experience, such products usually give temporary results. So, if you are looking for a permanent solution then try home remedies for curing your tough dandruff.
Today I am sharing 12 home remedies, which are absolutely easy, completely natural and very effective to get rid of dandruff:
1. Lemon
Lemon juice contains acids that fight the fungi that can cause dandruff. It also helps relieve itching on the scalp.

Take 2 tablespoons lemon juice mixed with little water and apply it all over your scalp. Leave it on for about 5 minutes. Then rinse with water. Repeat this daily until your dandruff disappears. Lemon’s acidity helps balance the pH of your scalp, which helps keeps dandruff at bay.
Repeat this remedy a few times a week.
2. Baking soda paste
Being a mild exfoliant, baking soda helps remove dead skin cells. It also help balance pH levels on the scalp and reduces overactive fungi that can cause dandruff.

Take a handful of baking soda, add a little water and rub vigorously into your scalp. Leave it on for a couple of minutes. Skip the shampoo and rinse your hair with warm water. Follow this once or twice a week for best results.
Your hair may get dried out at first, but after few applications, your scalp will start producing natural oils, leaving your hair softer and free of flakes.
Note: Do not shampoo your hair after this treatment.
3. White Vinegar
Similar to Lemon, white vinegar is one of the best home remedies for dandruff. Vinegar has acetic acid that prevents the growth of fungi on your scalp and relieves itching.

Add about the one-half cup of vinegar to two cups of lukewarm water and use it to rinse your hair after shampooing your hair.
Do this remedy once or twice a week.
Apple Cider Vinegar
4. Aspirin
Do you know Aspirin is a miracle drug? Well, Aspirin contains the same active ingredient (salicylic acid) as many medicated dandruff shampoos.

Crush Two Aspirin and add it to your normal shampoo. Use it every time you wash your hair and leave the mixture for 2 minutes then rinse your hair well. If you wish, you can wash again with plain shampoo to remove the powder completely.
Follow this remedy at least three times a week. Stick to it religiously and you will never see those dreaded white flakes again.
5. Fenugreek Seeds
This one is from Dadi Maa Ke Nuskhe! Since the fenugreek has anti-fungal and soothing properties, it can help control dandruff to a great extent.

Soak two tablespoons of fenugreek (methi) seeds in water overnight. Grind them into a fine paste in the morning. Now apply on the scalp and leave it for half an hour. Wash it off well and shampoo your hair as usual preferably with a herbal one. You can also use the water in which the seeds were soaked as an after-shower hair tonic. Follow this regimen twice a week for the first two weeks and then once a week for another two weeks for flakes free and shiny hair.
6. Neem
Indian lilac (Neem) is a well-known herb used in Ayurveda. It has the antifungal and antibacterial properties which help treat dandruff as well as many other hair problems like scalp acne, itchy scalp, and hair fall efficiently.

Add two handfuls of Neem leaves to four to five cups of hot water. Leave it overnight. Next morning, strain the solution and use it to rinse your hair. It relieves itching and keeps the scalp healthy and dandruff free. You can use your regular shampoo after this step. Do this every alternate day.
7. Tea Tree oil
According to a study, there is a significant improvement in the severity of dandruff with shampoos having just 5 percent Tea Tree Oil
Tea tree oil is one of the best remedies that help you get rid of various scalp problems. The reasons are obvious- the antiseptic, antibiotic and antifungal properties that help you to get rid of such issues as an itchy and dry scalp.

Take few drops of tea tree oil and rub an adequate amount of oil into the scalp and hair. After applying completely, then comb your hair through to the ends. Leave it like that for overnight and then wash it off with shampoo in the next morning. You can also add a few drops of tea tree oil to your favourite shampoo as you wash normally. Do this once or twice a week.
8. Mouth Wash
It sounds strange but yes you heard it right!! You can cure a bad dandruff with your mouthwash. Mouthwash’s anti-fungal properties help prevent dandruff-causing yeast from growing that causes dandruff.

Wash your hair with your regular shampoo, then rinse with an alcohol-based mouthwash. Do not rinse out. A few rinses and your flake free baby! Do this remedy at least once a week.
Note: Avoid this remedy if you have a broken skin, (which dandruff sufferers may have from scratching) as it will burn since its an antiseptic.
9. Coconut Oil
Coconut oil helps eliminate dandruff due to its antifungal properties. It is also a great moisturizer for the dry scalp that provides relief from itching. Take some coconut oil and mix half the amount of lemon juice in it.

Before showering, rub it on your scalp and let sit for about half an hour. Shampoo normally. You can also look for a shampoo that already contains coconut oil. Follow this remedy at least three times a week for best results.
10. Salt
The roughness of regular table salt works great for cleaning out dandruff flakes before you shampoo.

Take a salt shaker and sprinkle the salt in all over your scalp. Now, start massaging the scalp continuously for about 10 to 15 minutes, so that the dead skin flakes are removed completely from your scalp. After that, wash your hair with any normal or Anti – Dandruff shampoo (I would suggest a Herbal one). After washing, dry your hair with a clean towel and you will notice the difference immediately.
11. Garlic
Garlic is considered to be one of the best herbal remedies for dandruff as it has antibiotic properties that are perfect for removing dandruff-causing bacteria.

Take some Garlic cloves and crush garlic or make a paste and rub it into your scalp. Massage it well into the scalp before washing as usual. Regular application of this can completely remove dandruff from your scalp and the hair.
12. Olive oil
Olive Oil is known for its excellent moisturizing properties and scalp dryness can be treated with regular use of extra-virgin olive oil at night.

Massage warm extra Virgin Oil into your scalp and wrap your hair in a warm towel. Leave it on for at least 45 minutes and then cover with a shower cap for overnight. Follow your regular shampoo routine in the morning. You can also look for a shampoo that contains Olive oil. Repeat this remedy a few times a week. Though it’s a traditional remedy for dandruff but extremely effective. Try it.
