Before I start, I would like to ask everyone, tell me honestly girls, do you apply makeup primer before putting on foundation? Well, Makeup primer is a base for foundation or face makeup. Though many skip applying primer, considering it a non-essential step. But do you know that the primer can make a huge impact on your finished look? Using a makeup primer before you apply makeup makes your entire face look like velvet. It smoothes the surface of your skin, minimizes the appearance of fine lines and pores, evens your skin tone, and helps your makeup stay put and smudge-free all day.

So, If you haven’t been using makeup primer, then you’re really missing out the basics of makeup .

Makeup primers are usually expensive. What, if give you an excellent solution without breaking your pockets ? :D :D Most of the Beauty bloggers and makeup aficionado are swearing by a 235 /- INR Nivea Men’s after shaving balm instead of high end expensive primers!!!! What? Primer? Yes darling …That’s fascinating.. !!

First, I didn’t believe it ? How can a Men’s after shaving balm keep your makeup perfect all day long? Therefore, I decided to test it out see if it actually worked or just the bloggers hype? Exciting eh? To know more read on guys. . .

MY EXPERIENCE WITH NIVEA MEN SENSITIVE AFTER SHAVE BALM

PACKAGING

The product comes in a white & blue cardboard box packaging contains the instructions and details of the product on it. The actual product comes in a slightly heavy yet sturdy white glass bottle with a plastic lid.

TEXTURE

 Nivea after-shave Balm comes in a milky white lotion form. Its mildly scented and texture of this product is very soft with good consistency. The lotion is neither very thick nor very runny. It gets spread and absorbs easily on your skin. It feels light on the skin and does not feel heavy or greasy at all.

I have been using Faces Primer since many years and tried a few other brands primers too but surprisingly this is the first thing that has actually helped my makeup stay longer than any other primers!!

I was bit doubtful when I applied it as a primer but I noticed that my face looked much refreshed and hydrated from morning to evening. It lasted for the whole day! And I was like actually wowing myself like anything! Also, upon application, the musky-manly smell goes off after an hour or so and it doesn’t seem to irritate my skin at all.

I used to find that my foundation would be vanished within few hours but this primer kept my make up intact without flaking, caking. Moreover, I feel less worried about putting this all over my face as it doesn’t contain silicone. Also, price-wise it is very reasonable.

Unlike other primers there are some slight downfalls as well but actually I don’t consider them as cons:

• It’s an after-shave so definitely, does smell of men’s after shave. The smell is not strong at all but this can be a turn off for some people.

• The bottle way too heavy and can’t be easily carried around in a bag however you can dispense it out into a travel friendly bottle.

• I wish it had a dispenser to avoid any kind of wastage! But, Okay.. This wasn’t made with the intention of becoming a makeup primer! I AM SURE that we can all manage it with such amazing price! RIGHT?

MAB RECOMMENDATION:

The Nivea post shave balm is not only cheaper at Rs. 235/- compared to other high end super expensive primers, but its almost 5 times as much in a bottle, making the value for money much-muchhh better!! Moreover, the makeup actually sticks to your face for a long time. Agreed, it does have a masculine scent but it gradually fades away. It has everything I look for in a primer. It acts as a perfect makeup base, gives dewy look, evens skin, moisturizes and keeps makeup intact all day long. Besides, it’s easily available nationwide. What else you want? :) :D

Overall … I don’t think I will ever buy another primer when I have this shave balm.

All in all I love it Definitely “A WINNER” !
